No Calls or Text Messages When in Motion

Friday, November 12th, 2010

There is a company that has a GPS-enabled piece of technology that is great for fleet owners as well as parents of teenagers.  Called the iZUP, it was created from Illume Software for distracted drivers.  As the article stated, “iZUP Distracted Driving Solution Selected by the Jankovich Company for Corporate Fleet”, most people are tempted by text messaging while on the road.  This product basically protects you from yourself.

Here is how the article described iZUP:

“iZUP is an intelligent and accurate GPS-enabled mobile application that effectively eliminates all cell phone-related distractions. iZUP automatically launches when it detects the phone is in a vehicle traveling over five mph. The application sends incoming calls to voicemail and holds text messages until the vehicle stops and a driver can respond to them safely. iZUP also prevents outgoing communication while driving, yet always allows emergency calls to 9-1-1 and authorized numbers.

An account is created to manage a fleet of any size, small or large. The assigned account manager will automatically receive notifications if any driver attempts to disable iZUP or intentionally turn off GPS. In addition, the managers can proactively monitor the iZUP account all from their customizable status page created by Illume.

Is that amazing or what?  No calls will come in and no text messages either.  Then when the car stops, you receive your messages.  Can one imagine how many accidents that is going to save us from?

The writing is on the wall.  This is going to become standard in fleets as well as residential use.  Parents are going to have this software downloaded to all their kids phones within a couple of years.  Great technology!
