Computers Now Do it All in Your hand

Saturday, October 2nd, 2010

Truck Drivers are continuously being given more up to date technology in today’s electronic era.  Panasonic just released their latest generation of Toughbook U1 Ultra hand held computer that will keep drivers up with technology.  It has a full Windows operating system and runs Windows 7, along with optional software that drivers need.   A few of its capabilities include an optional 29-key keypad, GPS, a barcode reader, a camera, and a mobile broadband for high speed internet.   It really is an amazing leap in today’s computers.

This new toughbook U1 Ultra can actually be dropped up to six feet and still survive.  It’s tough and has a Transflective Plus display that allows the user to see the screen better in direct sunlight.  Made for the driver in mind, this new hand held gadget is going to take driver tools to a higher level of accuracy and more progressive ways of doing their job better.

Truck drivers really are given the opportunity of having an office in their cab.  They now have all the tools to run a business right there.  They have gadgets like this that is basically a hand held computer.  Cell phones and emails.  Printers, internet, and GPS systems.  Oddly enough, it is all technology that is giving our drivers on the road more advanced tools for making more money through speed of information.

Remember what the drivers in the past did to succeed?  Paperwork was handed back to the offices when they arrived at the office.  They would check in to the office at the pay phones at the gas stations.  No contact with family except through a pay phone.  They would find out about road construction and traffic jams by word of mouth from drivers coming from the opposite directions while fueling or even worse, by coming up on it in.
