With the ever-growing shortage of truck drivers and the demand for goods on the rise, many trucking companies will do whatever it takes to recruit new drivers. If you are someone looking to start a career in the long haul, the future looks bright. Bonuses are moving higher and look to only get better if companies want to keep drivers in their trucks. That’s why we say truck driving jobs are available now!

The trucking industry is the largest industry in the America. It is the backbone of every nation. Transportation employs 9% of the working population in America. Over the last few years the trucking industry has been going through major changes. The aging demographic of truck drivers, current recession, and the CSA 2010 has hit the trucking industry like a bag of bricks. The major impact is going to be felt by driver recruiting and retention in the industry. The way trucking companies may response to the current environment is the reason the truck driver may be coming out of the recession with a W.

Starting with the CSA 2010, companies must be pro-active. The CSA 2010 evaluates 24 months of a carrier’s safety record. They need to make a bigger investment in their drivers and make sure they are creating the safest drivers they can. With this added investment companies will start to pay their drivers more because they cannot afford the turnover like they are use too. They are going to get more creative with their benefits and compensation packages to attract people to the driving life. Whether they increase pay by making it a standard to pay for layover time to compensate for being away from loved ones, or they focus on couple team drivers where you can spend time with the person you want, getting paid to see parts of this country that you’ve never been able to see.

What companies have going against them, are the stereotypes of being a truck driver. It takes a certain type of person to become a great truck driver. The life of a truck driver is extremely challenging, but if you’re up to the task, it can be very rewarding and worthwhile. Drivers need to take ownership of their abilities and realize they determine their future. Through better education, a driver can seek out trucking companies that provide great training. This will increase the low standards that are set for truck drivers. With the driver shortage, drivers become more valuable.
